Housing Options & Strategy
Family Housing – Fort Campbell “When reviewing your Fort Campbell PCS Guide and Resource, one of the biggest decisions is choosing between on-post privatized housing and utilizing your BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) to purchase a home in Clarksville or Sango. As a Military Relocation Professional (MRP), I understand the unique timeline of a military move. Whether you apply through Campbell Crossing for on-post living or decide to explore homes for sale near Fort Campbell, it is essential to start your application or home search as soon as you receive your orders to ensure your family is settled quickly.”
Housing Services Office (HSO) “The HSO is a critical stop in your Fort Campbell PCS Guide and Resource checklist. They provide essential oversight for off-post rentals and purchases. If you are considering buying a home in Clarksville, TN, instead of renting, our team can help you compare the long-term investment benefits of owning versus the convenience of on-post living. Soldiers are advised to report to the HSO to receive a housing stamp on their DA 31, ensuring your permissive TDY is validated correctly

Frequently Asked Questions about Fort Campbell PCS
What is the first thing I should do upon arriving at Fort Campbell?
All Soldiers must report to the 1st Lt. J. Robert Kalsu Replacement Company (Building 6916) for in-processing. They are open 24/7, but if you arrive during duty hours (0600–1700), you are required to be in your Army Combat Uniform (ACU) or Army Service Uniform (ASU). Make sure you have your DA Form 31 (leave form), PCS orders, and all medical/dental records ready for the cadre.
Can I use my BAH to buy a home in Clarksville instead of living on post?
Absolutely. Many families choose to use their Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) to build equity in the Clarksville or Sango areas rather than living in privatized on-post housing. However, before signing any off-post lease or purchase agreement, you are required to visit the Housing Services Office (HSO) in Building 850 to receive a mandatory housing stamp on your DA 31.
What are the best school districts for military families near Fort Campbell?
While there are excellent schools on post managed by DODEA, many military families look toward the Rossview and Sango areas in Clarksville for highly-rated Montgomery County schools. Because the market near these schools is very competitive, it is recommended to start your home search as soon as you have your orders to ensure you are settled before the school year begins.
Any questions about your PCS to Fort Campbell KY or buying a home near the post, please give Relocation Realtor Ron Dayley – Fort Campbell a call at 931-249-6598.
